In recent years, Indonesia’s manufacturing industry has faced increasing burdens due to the shift toward high-mix, low-volume production. Changes in order quantities and delivery deadlines from customers have made demand forecasting more challenging to avoid risks related to inventory costs and opportunity losses.<\/p>\n

One of the tools to achieve the goal of improving operational efficiency is systemization. By implementing systems, we can enhance data entry efficiency and accuracy while enabling effective use of information through visualization, sharing, and systematization. We believe that information from the field can generate a competitive edge for companies, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy and, ultimately, the high-value transformation of Indonesia as a whole.<\/p>\n

\nThe name “Bahtera” is derived from the Portuguese word bateira (meaning small boat), which is also the root of “battera,” a type of pressed mackerel sushi. In Indonesian, “Noah’s Ark” from the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament is referred to as “Bahtera Nuh.”<\/p>\n

I grew up in Fukuoka until high school, spent eight years in Tokyo from my student days to early career, and moved to Indonesia in October 1997 to join a systems company in Jakarta.<\/p>\n

While on a one-year assignment at the systems department of a Japanese bank\u2019s Jakarta branch, the Jakarta riots broke out! Escaping the mob from the Summitmas Building, I took a four-hour detour through chaotic streets to reach Kuningan, passing crowds gathered at intersections and looters carrying their spoils from supermarkets. Though I narrowly escaped with my life (and maybe even enjoyed it a little), the scenes from that day remain etched in my memory.<\/p>\n

Later, I started an export business in Bali focused on furniture and goods via a website. After the boom faded, I returned to Jakarta, where I worked on developing and implementing business systems such as accounting and production management systems.<\/p>\n

With over 20 years of experience in business system development and implementation in Japan and Indonesia, I established and now manage PT. BAHTERA HISISTEM INDONESIA, the current IT service company.\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Purpose of This Website<\/h2>\n
\nCurrently, I spend my days visiting Japanese company offices in Jakarta or industrial estates on the outskirts, working on-site for system implementations. To do this job effectively, there\u2019s a minimum level of knowledge I need to keep in mind to respond properly to customer questions. <\/p>\n

Without being able to answer their questions, making proposals is out of the question.

\nPersonally, I\u2019ve always been forgetful and inefficient, so I struggled with the question, \u201cHow can I organize the jumbled knowledge in my head?\u201d The answer was to turn my thoughts into a public blog. Blogs are incredibly useful tools for organizing scattered knowledge into categories, archives, and tags\u2014placing it on a grid of vertical and horizontal axes. Initially, I started with the title \u201cJakarta System Implementation Memo.\u201d <\/p>\n

Compared to just thinking in my head, putting thoughts into writing requires an entirely different level of energy. Publishing it online adds another layer\u2014checking for typos, avoiding embarrassing content, and exercising a kind of self-discipline. <\/p>\n

As I continued this \u201cmental organization blog,\u201d the content didn\u2019t change drastically, but the site\u2019s purpose subtly evolved into \u201ccreating a site that covers the main topics arising in conversations with customers during system implementations.\u201d This shift was influenced by a new question that emerged while blogging my knowledge: \u201cWhat is the work that Japanese people should truly be doing in Indonesia?\u201d <\/p>\n

Despite the self-centered nature of this modest content, I\u2019ve received grateful emails saying, \u201cI learned something from your site\u201d or \u201cIt was helpful.\u201d This unexpected satisfaction led me to rename the site \u201cIndonesia IT Navi\u201d and aspire to create \u201ca site that benefits its visitors\u201d\u2014a rather ambitious goal. Beyond IT, I\u2019ll also touch on interesting topics related to the keyword \u201cIndonesia.\u201d

\nWith the company\u2019s incorporation in February 2018, the old domain \u201cIndonesia IT Navi\u201d (indonesia-japan.com) was redirected via a 301 redirect (permanent transfer) to the company domain \u201cBahtera Hisistem\u201d (bahtera.jp). <\/p>\n

Fortunately, this site has led to business opportunities, and for now, I\u2019ve set the lofty goal of making it \u201ca site helpful to people considering system implementation in Indonesia,\u201d updating content irregularly. In today\u2019s fast-changing world, where information quickly becomes outdated, I aim to refresh the site with the latest details whenever I notice it\u2019s growing stale. <\/p>\n

Humans always need continuous improvement, and I, too, want to keep evolving. Amidst that, I value the \u201cunchanging foundational knowledge\u201d that remains constant. <\/p>\n
